Philips Academy Andover~Summer 2007~
Okay,So i went to a Summer School over the Summer. Need i say more?
Enrolling into a Summer School wasn't really my idea. I was actualy against it. Knowing that i was a very shy and reserved person towards new things, i knew it would not be such a great idea for me. It was all my parents idea. They wanted me to do sometime 'PRODUCTIVE' over the summer. My mama, did not want me bumming at home or according to her 'Lepak-ing' around KLCC. So YES. I had to pick one out of the 3 schools that my Parents found for me. Which i eventually did. I actually picked 2 Schools one in Andover and the other one in Exeter. I applied for both. Unfortunately i only got a letter of acceptance from Andover. I never received one from Exeter. My application must have gotten lost in the mail. It was that or Exeter must have had something against me. OH WELL. What's done is done.
My Summer School lasted for approxiamately 6 weeks. And during that six weeks it would be just like an ordinary school. The only difference was that i would be in a different environment, meeting new people from various backgrounds and will have the the opportunity of experiencing 'dormitory life'. AWAY FROM THE FOLKS. Yes.It was my forst time being away from home. I was quite excited but at the same time I absolutely dreaded it.
During the Summer,i had the option of choosing 2 Classes (a major & a minor) and 1 activity. There were a range of classes to choose from! There were so many thet i was so intimidated by it. There was Phsycology,Dynamic Body,Drama,French,Arabic,Archaeology,History,Physics etc.
I decided to take up Archaeology since i JUST LOVE LEARNING HISTORY. :) Plus,it would give me a hands-one experience to work hand in hand with Professional Archaeologists. I chose Introduction to Arabic and 'Social Dance' as my activity. YES,go ahead and laugh! Alyaa took up Dancing!!! =( But knowing me such a 'SILLY BILLY'. I didn't know that the Archaeology course was an EXTENDED MAJOR. Which meant that i would have to sacrifice my minor class and activity. How Stupid could i get. It was written on my acceptance letter but i was to BLURR to realise it. And so,it was to late to change. But i wasnt too upset about it. I was doing something i LOVED during the summer. Like i always say 'Everything happens for a reason'.
I was actually 2 days late for my Summer Sessions. This was due to my Exams in Mutiara which was held the same time as my Summer Session. The first person i met was 'Dave'. He's the guy in the office who handled all the student matters. He gave me this package with my Personal Details,Dormitory name and Letters about Trips that i could sign up for. The first thing i did was finfing my House. My House was called called 'BANCROFT'. It was named after one of the principals of Philips Academy.(He's dead) Poor guy. My mum and I had a hard time time finding Bancroft. And when we finally did. We realised that we couldnt enter without a key. So when i saw a girl entering the House. I screamed from a far!!! I shoutesd, " HI! Excuse me! Please whole the door for me! I'm new and I'm late!!!! Please! Thank YOU!". She did. Her name was Susan, she was from Taiwan but lived in the states. There was also a security guard,he saw me carrying my 2 BIG SUITCASES and kindly offered to carry it up for me. My room was all the way on the LAST FLOOR. I would have died tragically if i carried it on my own without help. :( BLEH.
Many people in KL thought that Summer Schools were for FAT PEOPLE. As in FAT CAMP! Well it's not :(

To Be Continued. . . . . . . . .

Heyy,
I know I don't know you, but I found your blog off of google. And I was wondering about the Andover session you attended.
Was it hard to get into? And what were your grades you submitted? If you could respond that would be great!
